Blanchard's Cricket Frog
Acris blanchardi
Adults inhabit sunny margins of ponds, streams, wetlands, and temporary pools, often perching near open water. They hunt small insects and other arthropods with quick leaps and a rapid snap of the mouth. Despite their small size, males give a sharp, cricket-like breeding call during the warm season.
