European Wolf Spider
Lycosa tarantula
This large wolf spider inhabits warm, dry grasslands, open woodland, and scrub across parts of southern Europe. It is an active nocturnal hunter, using keen vibration sensing and speed to chase insects and other arthropods. Adults shelter in silk-lined burrows, often waiting at the entrance before rushing passing prey.
