Cat-faced Spider
Araneus gemmoides
Cat-faced spiders inhabit gardens, woodland edges, shrubs, and buildings across western North America. They wait in large circular orb webs for flying insects, then rush out to bite and wrap captured prey in silk. The adult female often has two prominent bumps on the abdomen that give the species its cat-faced appearance.
