Bearded Fireworm
Hermodice carunculata

Bearded fireworms inhabit coral reefs, rocky bottoms, and seagrass areas in warm Atlantic and Caribbean waters. They crawl over the seabed at night or in sheltered places, scavenging animal matter and feeding on corals, anemones, and other small invertebrates. Their white calcareous bristles can break off in skin and deliver an irritating toxin, making them dangerous to handle.
