Green Whip Snake
Hierophis viridiflavus
The Green Whip Snake inhabits sunny woodland margins, hedgerows, rocky slopes, and cultivated areas in parts of southern Europe. An alert daytime hunter, it races through vegetation in pursuit of lizards, frogs, small mammals, and birds. Despite its bold defensive hissing and repeated strikes, it is nonvenomous and harmless to people.
