Eastern Desertsnail
Eremarionta rowelli

Eastern Desertsnails inhabit rocky desert slopes and sheltered ground cover in the southwestern United States. They emerge mainly during cool, damp conditions to graze on decaying vegetation, fungi, and algae. In prolonged heat or drought, they seal themselves into sheltered places and become dormant. Their pale, rounded shell helps retain moisture while providing protection from small predators.
