Ashen Pinion

Lithophane antennata

Ashen Pinion

Adult Ashen Pinions inhabit woodland, hedgerows, gardens, and other areas with deciduous trees. They fly mainly at night and visit flowers or sap flows for sugars, while their caterpillars depend on broadleaf foliage. The gray-brown forewings resemble weathered bark when the moth rests with its wings folded, and adults may overwinter before flying again in spring.
