Pale Tussock Moth Caterpillar
Calliteara pudibunda (caterpillar)
This hairy caterpillar lives on broadleaf trees and shrubs in woodland, parks, and hedgerows. It feeds chiefly on leaves, including oak, beech, birch, and hazel, often resting along twigs between feeding bouts. Long pale tussocks and irritating defensive hairs discourage many predators.
