Ecuadorian Hermit Crab
Coenobita compressus

Adults inhabit tropical Pacific beaches and nearby coastal scrub, staying hidden in damp cover during the day. They are omnivorous scavengers that eat fallen fruit, decaying material, and small animal remains. Despite living on land, they need moisture to keep their modified gills functioning and return to the sea to release larvae.
