Barred Mudskipper
Periophthalmus argentilineatus

An amphibious goby of mangroves, tidal creeks, and exposed mudflats across the Indo-Pacific. It feeds on small crustaceans, worms, insects, and other invertebrates while moving over wet mud with its muscular pectoral fins. Adults defend small territories with raised-fin displays, gaping, lunges, and short chases. A notable adaptation is its ability to breathe through moist skin and gill chambers while out of water, allowing long periods on land between tides.
