Obscure mealybug
Pseudococcus viburni
Adult obscure mealybugs live on a wide range of cultivated and wild plants, particularly in protected parts of stems, leaves, and fruit clusters. They feed continuously on phloem sap and excrete honeydew, which can encourage the growth of sooty mold. The adult female is wingless and covered in white waxy filaments, while the much rarer male develops wings and does not feed as an adult.
