Hairy Chinch Bug
Blissus leucopterus

Adults inhabit turfgrass, cereal fields, and open grassy areas, often gathering near the base of host plants. They puncture stems with slender mouthparts and feed on sap, which can leave patches of grass yellowed and dry. The fully winged adults can make short flights to locate new grass stands. Their pale wings are marked with dark areas that help distinguish them from many other small true bugs.
