European Tachinid Fly
Compsilura concinnata

Adults occur in sunny woodland clearings, hedgerows, gardens, and agricultural habitats where host insects are plentiful. They fly actively among flowers and foliage, feeding mainly on nectar and honeydew while females search for hosts for their young. A female can place offspring on vegetation so that feeding caterpillars inadvertently take them in.
