Orthoporus Millipede
Orthoporus dorsovittatus

The Orthoporus millipede inhabits dry desert washes, rocky slopes, and scrubland in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It emerges most often during humid nights or after rain to browse on decomposing plant matter. When threatened, it coils its many armored segments and releases defensive chemicals, including cyanide compounds.
