American Lobster
Homarus americanus

Adult American lobsters inhabit cold coastal seafloors, including rocky reefs, mud flats, and deep offshore waters. They are opportunistic predators and scavengers that use their powerful claws to handle mollusks, crustaceans, fish, and carrion. One enlarged crusher claw is specialized for breaking hard shells, while the narrower cutter claw helps tear softer prey.
