Scuttle Fly
Megaselia scalaris
Adult Scuttle Flies live around human settlements, woodland litter, compost, carrion, and other damp organic habitats. They run rapidly across surfaces before taking short, nimble flights, and feed on liquids from decaying matter, fungi, and flowers. Unlike most flies, they often move with a distinctive scuttling gait rather than immediately flying away.
