Peppermint Shrimp
Lysmata wurdemanni

Adult peppermint shrimp inhabit warm western Atlantic reefs, seagrass beds, and rocky coastal shelters. Mostly active at night, they forage for detritus, carrion, small invertebrates, and anemone tissue. Like other Lysmata shrimp, individuals are simultaneous hermaphrodites, functioning as both male and female after reaching maturity.
