Two-tailed Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudata

Adults fly through open woods, foothills, gardens, and river valleys across western North America. They drink nectar from flowers and may gather minerals from damp soil, while females search for suitable host plants on which to lay eggs. The hindwings bear two long tail-like extensions, giving this large yellow butterfly its distinctive silhouette.
