Northern Pacific Rattlesnake Hatchling
Crotalus oreganus (hatchling)

This newborn rattlesnake shelters in rocky crevices, brush, and dry grassland across western North America. It is already venomous and hunts tiny lizards, frogs, and young rodents from ambush. Hatchlings are born live and have a small tail button, though they cannot produce a full adult rattle until later sheds.
