Sun Beetle
Pachnoda marginata

Adult sun beetles inhabit warm savannas, gardens, woodland edges, and areas with flowering or fruiting plants. They fly between flowers and ripe fruit, feeding on nectar, pollen, sap, and soft fruit. Their smooth, colorful wing covers shield the folded flight wings underneath. Adults can take off while the wing covers remain partly closed, with the hindwings extending from the sides.
