Red Paper Wasp
Polistes canadensis

Red paper wasps inhabit tropical and subtropical areas, building open comb nests from chewed plant fibers under sheltered surfaces. Adults drink nectar and other sugary liquids, while also hunting caterpillars and other insects to feed developing larvae. They fly actively around vegetation and defend the nest when disturbed. Females can deliver painful venomous stings with a smooth stinger and may sting more than once.
