Carved Starsnail
Lithopoma caelatum

The adult carved starsnail inhabits shallow tropical reefs and rocky coastal bottoms. It emerges to graze algae from stones and coral rubble, using its broad muscular foot to cling firmly in moving water. Its heavy turban-shaped shell is sculpted with distinctive ridges and can be sealed with a hard operculum.
