Red Sea Garden Eel
Gorgasia sillneri

Red Sea garden eels inhabit sandy reef slopes, where each adult maintains a permanent burrow in the seabed. They extend their long bodies into the current to pick zooplankton from the water, withdrawing rapidly when threatened. Although many individuals may live close together, each eel remains anchored to its own burrow and rarely ventures far from it.
