Florida Drywood Termite
Cryptotermes cavifrons

This soft-bodied drywood termite spends its life within galleries excavated through dead branches, structural lumber, and other dry wood. It consumes cellulose and relies on gut microbes to help process its woody diet. Unlike subterranean termites, it can live without contact with moist soil. Small pellets pushed from gallery openings can reveal its presence.
