Savannah Monitor
Varanus exanthematicus

Adult savannah monitors inhabit seasonally dry African savannas, grasslands, and scrub, often retreating into deep burrows during harsh conditions. They forage deliberately for insects, especially beetles and snails, as well as eggs and small animals. Their broad, powerful teeth are well suited to crushing hard-shelled prey.
