Takin
Budorcas taxicolor

Takins inhabit cool mountain forests, bamboo thickets, and alpine meadows in the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. They browse on leaves, twigs, grasses, bamboo, and mineral-rich plants, often moving along steep, rugged slopes. Both sexes carry stout horns and can use forceful headbutts to defend themselves. Their coat produces an oily secretion that helps shed rain in their wet mountain habitat.
