Australian Magpie

Gymnorhina tibicen

Australian Magpie

Australian Magpies inhabit open woodland, farmland, parks, and suburban lawns across much of Australia. They walk and probe on the ground for insects, worms, lizards, and other small prey, while also taking some fruit and carrion. Known for their rich, flute-like carolling, they form territorial family groups and may swoop near nests during the breeding season.
