Stellate Dragonet
Synchiropus stellatus
Adult stellate dragonets live close to the bottom on sheltered reefs, sandy lagoons, and coral rubble. They pick tiny crustaceans and other small invertebrates from the substrate with a protrusible mouth. Their star-like spotted pattern provides effective camouflage against broken coral and sand.
