Pearly Wood-Nymph
Eudryas unio
The adult Pearly Wood-Nymph is a nocturnal moth of deciduous woods, forest margins, and vine-covered habitats. It visits lights after dark and flies with soft, quick wingbeats while searching for mates. Its pearly white forewings are boldly marked with dark brown patches, giving it a striking bird-dropping-like appearance even as an adult.
