Striped Dwarf Hamster
Cricetulus barabensis

The striped dwarf hamster inhabits grasslands, steppe, farmland, and scrubby areas across eastern Asia. It is chiefly nocturnal, spending daylight hours in a burrow system and emerging to forage for seeds, grains, green plants, and insects. Cheek pouches allow it to carry food back underground for storage.
