Elegant helicellid
Trochoidea elegans
Adults inhabit sunny, dry grasslands, dunes, and stony ground, especially in calcareous areas. They feed chiefly on algae, dead plant material, and biofilm scraped from surfaces. During hot, dry conditions, they can retreat into the flattened shell and seal the opening to conserve moisture.
