Catalan Wall Lizard
Podarcis liolepis
Adults inhabit rocky Mediterranean places, including stone walls, ruins, field margins, open woodland edges, and scrub across northeastern Iberia and nearby southern France. They are agile daytime hunters, taking ants, beetles, spiders, flies, and other small invertebrates from sun-warmed surfaces. Males often patrol small territories and use posture, chasing, and biting during disputes. Their mottled brown and greenish pattern helps them vanish against lichen, rock, and dry vegetation.
