Jumping Bristletail
Lepismachilis ysignata

Adults shelter in rocky ground, under bark, and among dry litter where their flattened bodies can slip into narrow gaps. They forage at night or in dim conditions for algae, lichens, fungi, and organic debris. When threatened, they launch themselves away with powerful abdominal movements. Their three long tail filaments help detect contact and movement behind them.
