Wolf Spider
Schizocosa tristani

The adult wolf spider ranges across open ground, leaf litter, and grassy edges, usually remaining close to cover. It actively pursues insects and other small arthropods, overpowering prey with a rapid pounce and venomous bite. Females carry their egg sac with them and later transport newly hatched spiderlings on their back.
