Bold-Based Zale
Zale lunifera
Adult Bold-Based Zales inhabit woodlands, forest edges, orchards, and other areas with deciduous trees. They fly chiefly at night, visiting lights and seeking mates while avoiding daytime predators by resting against bark. The subdued patterning on their wings provides effective camouflage when the moth holds them flat over its body.
