Little Grebe
Tachybaptus ruficollis

Little Grebes inhabit still or slow-moving freshwater with abundant submerged plants and cover. They are active diving hunters, feeding chiefly on aquatic insects, crustaceans, tadpoles, and small fish. Rather than taking flight when threatened, they often sink quietly beneath the surface with only their head exposed.
