Missing Sector Orb Weaver
Zygiella x-notata
The Missing Sector Orb Weaver commonly inhabits buildings, garden fences, shrubs, and woodland edges across much of its range. It builds an orb web with a characteristic open sector and a signal thread leading to its retreat. Small flying insects caught in the web are rapidly bitten and wrapped in silk. The spider often waits out of sight rather than sitting at the centre of its web.
