Red Howler Monkey
Alouatta seniculus

Red howler monkeys inhabit tropical and riverine forests across northern South America, spending most of their time in the canopy. They feed mainly on leaves, supplementing this diet with fruit and flowers. Adults conserve energy by resting for long periods between feeding bouts. Enlarged throat structures allow males to produce exceptionally loud roars that carry through the forest.
