Willow Warbler
Phylloscopus trochilus

The willow warbler is a small migratory songbird of open woodland, scrub, and willow-lined wetlands across Europe and western Asia. It spends much of its time flitting through foliage and hovering briefly to pick insects, spiders, and other tiny invertebrates from leaves and twigs. During the breeding season it nests low in dense vegetation in a domed grass nest hidden on the ground. Despite its delicate build, it undertakes a remarkable long-distance migration to sub-Saharan Africa.
