Oak Bush-cricket
Meconema thalassinum

The adult is a slender green bush-cricket of oak canopies, hedgerows, gardens, and woodland edges. It is mostly nocturnal and hunts small insects on leaves and branches, often staying hidden by its leaf-like color. Unlike many crickets and katydids, the male signals by drumming a hind leg on a leaf rather than making a loud song with the wings. Fully developed wings allow short flights between trees and shrubs when moving or escaping danger.
