Geniez's Wall Lizard Hatchling
Podarcis virescens (hatchling)
Hatchlings shelter among sun-warmed stones, wall crevices, and low vegetation in Mediterranean habitats. They are alert daytime hunters, darting after tiny insects and spiders while staying close to cover. A hatchling can shed its tail to distract a predator and escape.
