Bluechin Xenocara
Ancistrus dolichopterus

Adult Bluechin Xenocaras inhabit shaded tributaries of the Rio Negro basin, where they rest beneath driftwood and along submerged banks. They are nocturnal grazers that scrape algae and organic film from wood and rocks, supplementing this diet with small invertebrates. Mature males develop prominent facial bristles, which are used in displays and may help guard breeding sites.
