Deepwater Burrfish
Allomycterus pilatus

Adults inhabit temperate rocky reefs, seagrass beds, and algae-rich coastal waters. They use strong beaklike teeth to crush small molluscs, crustaceans, and other bottom-dwelling invertebrates. Usually solitary, they move slowly through cover while foraging. When threatened, they inflate with water and raise their hairlike dermal spines.
