Speckled Bush-cricket
Leptophyes punctatissima

The adult speckled bush-cricket is common in hedgerows, woodland edges, gardens, and scrubby vegetation across much of western Europe. It browses on leaves, petals, and other soft plant matter while spending much of its time hidden among greenery. Males produce a very high-pitched, ticking song by rubbing their small wings together, often beyond the easy hearing range of many people. Adults are weak fliers and depend more on camouflage, climbing, and sudden jumps than sustained flight.
