Humpback Dung Beetle
Deltochilum gibbosum
The adult humpback dung beetle lives in tropical forest habitats, where it searches the ground for fresh animal dung. It feeds on dung and uses it to provision underground nests for its young. Strong legs and a tough exoskeleton help it dig, push, and handle compact dung masses. The raised hump on its back gives this species its common name.
