Common dung beetle
Aphodius fimetarius

Adults inhabit pastures, manure heaps, compost, and other places where animal dung is plentiful. They feed on dung and decaying organic matter, often burrowing into it to shelter and lay eggs. The beetle can fly between suitable patches when conditions are warm. Its black body with reddish wing covers helps distinguish it from many other small dung beetles.
