Boreal Combfoot
Steatoda borealis

The adult boreal combfoot lives in cool forests, shrublands, and sheltered buildings, usually in protected corners or beneath debris. It constructs an irregular cobweb that snares crawling and flying insects. After detecting vibrations in the web, it rushes out to wrap prey and deliver venom with its fangs. Despite its widow-like appearance, it is a small, retiring spider that avoids confrontation whenever possible.
