Giant Stag Beetle
Dorcus tityus

Adult giant stag beetles inhabit mature deciduous woodland, especially areas with old, decaying trees. They feed mainly on tree sap and ripe fruit, becoming active around dusk and at night. Males use their greatly enlarged mandibles to grapple with rivals over sap flows and breeding opportunities.
