Common Sun Beetle
Amara aenea

Common sun beetles inhabit open woodland edges, farmland, grassland, and gardens across much of Europe. They run over the ground at night and in cool weather, feeding mainly on seeds along with small invertebrates. During the day they often shelter beneath stones, litter, or low vegetation. Their metallic bronze-green wing cases give this ground beetle its sunlit appearance.
