American Black Duck
Anas rubripes

American Black Ducks use freshwater marshes, forested ponds, estuaries, and sheltered coastal bays. They feed mainly by dabbling, taking seeds, aquatic vegetation, mollusks, insects, and other small invertebrates from shallow water. Their dark mottled plumage provides effective camouflage, while the blue-purple wing patch is especially visible in flight.
